What You Can Expect

On completion of the course, participants should be able to code and debug simple RPG IV programs, both interactive and batch. Specifically the student will understand:

  • How data is stored and manipulated by RPG
  • RPG IV....coding structure, indicators, operation codes, etc.

Who Should Take This Course

Programmers responsible for writing and/or maintaining RPG IV code.

Recommended Prerequisites

Before taking this course, a student should:

  • Have a basic knowledge of the development environment (WDSC/ RSE/Rdi or PDM/SEU) available through for Application Developers and/orWDSC/RSE/RDi for Programmers
  • Know about the concepts of externally described files (i. e. DDS or SQL)available through for Application Developers
  • Be familiar with the system facilities (menus, CL commands, jobs, etc)available through for Application Developers
  • Have a basic knowledge of programming (sequence, loops, subroutines etc.)
