Course Summary

This course focuses on advanced report creation techniques. It covers step-by-step solutions to advanced reporting problems occurring in real-world reporting solutions. The course provides workarounds for certain restrictions of Reporting Services and covers implementation of functionality, which is usually missing there, either on the technical side or on the visual side. The course also shows various hidden functionality and creative solutions to some heavier reporting problems that shift your reports to the next level.

Advanced Tablix

  • Nesting and docking reporting elements, e.g. a table in a list (a master-detail list)
  • Creating stepped tables
  • Adjacent groups in tables and matrices
  • Dynamic grouping data using parameters
  • Dynamic hiding of rows and columns
  • Calendar-like and horizontal reports
  • Switching rows and columns while displaying the report
  • Changing a table to the matrix and vice versa

Advanced Reporting From Analysis Services OLAP Cubes

  • Reusing fonts, formatting, etc. from SSAS measures settings
