Course Summary
VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) enables an organization to
better manage their disk storage, and increase the size
of their file systems from the standard partitioning model.
The VERITAS File System (VxFS) integrates with VxVM to
provide advanced file system services and facilities.
Combined, these two products form the basis of Storage
Foundation (SF).

What You Can Expect
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand and configure VERITAS Storage Foundation
- Configure and maintain volumes and file systems
- Identify and resolve problems
- Place the boot disk under VxVM control
- Install and use Storage Foundation Manager
Who Should Take This Course
This workshop is intended for system administrators and
technical support staff who will be working with VERITAS
Storage Foundation.
Recommended Prerequisites
The workshop requires a prior knowledge of UNIX system administration
(specifically Solaris or Linux), including knowledge of
basic UNIX file systems, formatting, partitioning and
associated tools.
Training Style
This workshop introduces the concepts of VxVM and VxFS on
Solaris / Linux. The theory provides the student with
the principles of volume and file system management and
recovery. The practical aspects of the course instruct
the delegate on how to manage various types of volume
configuration, use of the appropriate administration tools,
as well as performing volume migration, recovery and troubleshooting.
This course covers VERITAS Storage Foundation 5.x.
