VERITAS Storage Foundation HA 5.x Fundamentals Workshop (Solaris / Linux)

Course:   VERHA
Duration:   5 Days
Level:   II
On our website at:   http://www.verhoef-training.com/courses/VERHA.html

Course Summary

VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) enables an organization to better manage their disk storage, and increase the size of their file systems from the standard partitioning model. The VERITAS File System (VxFS) integrates with VxVM to provide advanced file system services and facilities. Combined, these two products form the basis of Storage Foundation (SF).

VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) enables an organization to monitor systems and application services, and to restart services on a different system when hardware or software fails. The key to understanding VCS is to learn the various components and how they interact with one another. These include: clusters, resources and resource types, service groups, agents, and communications (GAB and LLT).

Together, these products form the basis of The VERITAS Storage Foundation HA Suite.

What You Can Expect

At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

Who Should Take This Course

This workshop is intended for system administrators and technical support staff who will be working with VERITAS Storage Foundation HA.

Recommended Prerequisites

The workshop requires a prior knowledge of UNIX system administration (specifically Solaris or Linux), including knowledge of basic UNIX file systems, formatting, partitioning and associated tools.

Training Style

This workshop introduces the concepts of VxVM and VxFS on Solaris / Linux. The theory provides the student with the principles of volume and file system management and recovery, high availability and clustering concepts. The practical aspects of the course instruct the delegate on how to manage various types of volume, file system and cluster configurations, use of the appropriate administration tools. This course covers VERITAS Storage Foundation HA 5.x.
