This five day course covers essential administration skills including user and group management; local storage administration and logical volumes; network and network services configuration; remote access using SSH; firewall and basic SELinux management; creating Virtual Machines and installing the OS automatically.
It is intended for those who have previous Linux, Solaris or UNIX experience and are comfortable using the command line and editing text files.
The course is fairly intensive, but provides ample time for putting skills into practice. This course helps with preparation for the RH200 exam.
Log in to a Linux system and run a variety of daya-to-day commands using the shell.
Carry out file and directory management from the bash prompt.
Manage Linux users and groups and including password policies.
Set permissions on files and directories, and interpret the security effects of different permission settings. Apply Access Control Lists (ACLs) with setfacl and getfacl.
Use SELinux to manage access to files and interpret and troubleshoot SELinux security effects.
Monitor and manage processes active on the system.
Manage software package installs and updates from yum package repositories.
Manage and monitor network services and system daemons using systemd.
Configure basic IPv4 networking, including Network Manager and bonding.
Locate and view system log files to facilitate troubleshooting.
Create and manage disk partitions, logical volumes with LVM. Create file systems, and swap areas.
Schedule repetitive system tasks using cron and systemd timer units.
Share file systems using network file system (NFS) exports. Mount NFS and server message block (SMB/CIFS) shares from file servers.
Configure a basic firewall using firewalld commands.
Create and Manage Kernel VMs and install them with the Kickstart automated installer facility.

Those wishing to become proficient in day-to-day management of Enterprise Linux servers, and aspiring to achieve RedHat Certified System Administrator level.
Proficient with UNIX/Linux file system navigation, the shell command line and editing text files. Some previous system administration experience would be helpful.
