This 5-day course is intended for z/OS Systems Programmers who are responsible for supporting cryptography for their end users. It will provide an introduction to cryptography in general (hint: It?s not just scrambling of data) and why cryptography is important to your enterprise. Then it will cover the cryptographic hardware that is available on System z and the operating system support that makes it work including parameters that might impact your security and your performance. Finally it will cover the most common subsystems and products that leverage the crypto infrastructure. These will include System SSL, database encryption, PKI Services and others.

At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

• Configure the crypto environment to meet your security and performance requirements
• Understand the crypto algorithms and which hardware devices support those algorithms
• Understand the importance of the master keys and how to manage them securely
• Understand how your end users can leverage the crypto infrastructure and how you can best support them

• z/OS systems programmers
• z/OS security administrators
• Technical managers responsible for z/OS security and/or cryptography

Basic knowledge of z/OS, TSO, and ISPF.
