This course will utilize a combination of instructor-led discussions and demonstrations to provide a concise overview of Docker and its architecture. Topics will include role as a packaging format, use of standardized container, efficiencies of scale and performance, shrinking of application footprint, performance implications, decentralization of application stack, container security issues and concerns, container content management and modernization of the application operational model.

What You Can Expect

Upon conclusion of this course each participant will have acquired these skills:

  • Understand the components of the Docker platform
  • Understand the concept of containers and images
  • Install Docker Engine and create new Docker container
  • Demonstrate monitoring process for Docker environment
  • Illustrate working with Docker images via building, running and storing these images
  • Depict use of public and private registries for image storage
  • Demonstrate basic configuration and control functions of Docker containers
  • Illustrate debugging of containers via process and network inspections
  • Depict the design and deployment steps for a Production Control Platform
  • Understand how to store and retrieve our Docker images
  • Discuss container security constraints and concerns
  • Managing container contents for rollback, updates and orchestration
